I'm new to this site so take it easy on me, As I noted in another post, I just finished re-reading the whole series and it left me drained. I also mention in the fan fiction section I got a chance to read a "re-written" version of the trilogy, if a lot of you think this series is depressing (as I did) the re-written series would have you sobbing openly. There are three themes that I took from these books, and the main one I feel is being downplayed or overlooked completly by all this hoopla and publicity over the movie, and that concerns the power of the state over an individual. The other two are freedom vs serfdom, and the personal cost of defeating such a system (in other words, you can fight "city Hall" but at what cost) In Mockingjay, I thought Katniss was being a typical self centered teenage girl in regards to her feelings towards the rebels and the revolution in general. but in the end could I say I would react any different. Anyway that's my two cents worth, feel free to beat me up lol!
